Action plan for Tribal Cluster Model Villages discussed

In line with announcement made by Minister for Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and subsequent sanctioning of prestigious cluster model villages project, District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today chaired a meeting of concerned officers and discussed the action plan submitted by line departments for carrying out developmental works in the identified villages.The government has selected Gundah, Keri, Bhella and Dalheri villages of district Rajouri for establishment of Cluster Model Village under Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan.Under the plan, sustained funding of  Rs 24 Cr spread over a period of three years shall be provided for creating all basic amenities in these villages vis-a-vis roads, water and power supply, enhanced healthcare infrastructure besides skill development of the unemployed youth and generating self-employment avenues.The projects listed for the first phase of the finalized action plan are being taken up shortly which include the work for cent percent electrification of left out hamlets, setting up of 15 poultry farms, procurement of 1500 school desks costing Rs 20 Lakh, provision for Information and Communication Technology facility including computers, projectors and smart boards for 4 Middle Schools and 1 High School,  repair and renovation of five schools with compound walling and construction of playgrounds besides setting up of capacity building Center at Keri and Veterinary Center at Gundah.

Action plan also includes establishment of 15 cutting and tailoring Centres and 1 computer training Centre by social welfare department for generating of self-empowerment avenues and capacity building.Sheep Extension Center at Keri, tarpaulin for 314 breeders, 2 water harvesting tanks in each village and 20 Poly Green houses, 5 in each village would be provided by Agriculture Department, while wall nut plantation in 10 hectare land of each village would be taken up by Horticulture Department.  Action plan further provides that 100 students will be selected and trained by ITI in various trades for their skill profiling.It was decided in the meeting that Additional Deputy Commissioner Koteranka, Shafiq Ahmed shall be the Nodal Officer for monitoring and coordination of development works by line departments apart from inspection of works every fortnight. Dr Shahid impressed upon the officers to gear up their men and machinery and start the allotted works for the first phase as these are to be completed in record time of one month. Present in the meeting were ADC Koteranka Shafiq Ahmed, AC Revenue Qayoom Mir, CPO A H Choudhary, Exns of engineering departments and district officers of line departments.
