Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today kick started cleanliness drive at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar organized by Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF).Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker stressed on the need for realizing the importance of cleanliness in day-to-day life and said that every citizen of the country should act with a sense of realization and responsibility towards the society.The Speaker lauded the efforts of Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation towards the service of humanity in the fields of education, blood donation, cleanliness, plantation, empowerment of youth and women etc. and the appreciation and recognition it has earned in the country and abroad.MLC, Vikram Randhawa, Medical Superintendent, Dr. A.D.S Manhas, Zonal in-charge SNCF, Ajit Singh and large number of devotes of SNCF were present on the occasion.Later, the Speaker also inaugurated State Sambo Championship organized by Sambo Association, J&K at MA Indoor Stadium, Jammu in which about 1,300 students from the state participated under the sub-junior, junior and senior category.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that such events provide a platform to the children to show their talent and skill and help young buds to channelize their energy in a positive way.General Secretary, Press Club, Zorwar Singh, General Secretary, Sambo Association J&K, Rohit Sadhotra and other officials of Association were also present on the occasion.Later, the Speaker also visited Cantonment Board, Jammu where he chaired a meeting with Board members to discuss different issues of the cantonment. The encroachment along defense boundary of the Cantonment, Grants of DA to Cantonment Board employees and replacement of the board were discussed in the meeting.The Speaker assured the Board members that their genuine issues would be addressed as sooner as possible by the state government.
