The government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to people at their door steps with emphasis on rural and remote areas, affirmed Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga during a free eye checkup camp at Mata Amar Dei Rotary Eye Hospital in Patti, Samba.The day long camp was organized by Rotary Club Jammu in association with Rotary Eyes & TNT Hospital Udhampur.CMO Samba Rajinder Samyal, Chairman of the Hospital Ashok Gupta, President Rotary Club Jaswant Rai Gupta, Vice-President Dwarka Nath Chandan, staff of the Hospital and Rotary Club, volunteers and a large number of villagers were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asserted that the present dispensation is focusing on improving and upgrading healthcare services in the state by ensuring best medical facilities at affordable prices. He appreciated the efforts of Rotary Club for organizing the camp in rural area and hoped that the Club will continue its services with the same spirit and missionary zeal. He said that health care services are one of the essential requirements of the people and the present dispensation is leaving no stone unturned to ensure easy access to quality medicare.The Minister said that organizing such type of medical camps facilitates poor and needy people get better healthcare facilities at their door steps.
He called for close coordination between Health Department and the field functionaries to extend timely and quality healthcare to the people especially living in rural and far flung areas.Earlier, the Minister inspected the auction of Rough Sapphire Corundum (RSC) conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Minerals Limited, a J&K Government Undertaking at Jawahar Lal Nehru Udhyog Bhawan, Rail Head Complex. Nearly, 79 different lots of corundum sapphire were displayed for open auction by the bidders who came from different parts of the country.The auction was held under the chairmanship of Director, Geology and Mining, F. A. Khan, while as Managing Director, JK Minerals Limited Abid Suhail, Director Finance (I&C) Rajesh Kotwal, Director Finance (JKM) Satnam Singh, Expert NMDC Sanjay Dubey and other concerned senior officers were present on the occasion as members of the auction committee.In all, the auction of 10 lots went under hammer which fetched Rs 31.64 lakh revenue for the Corporation.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that JK Minerals has vast potential to provide employment opportunities in the State. He said efforts are under way to extract sapphire on scientific lines which has great potential to generate the resources for economic development of the region. He also emphasized for reaching out to the national and international market so that optimum price of the sapphire is obtained.
