DLSA organizes legal awareness camp at SKUAST Jammu

A legal awareness camp and law fair was organized today at SKUAST-J R.S. Pura, Jammu by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the patronage of Patron-in-Chief, J&K SLSA, Justice Badar Durez Ahmed, Chief Justice of J&K.The legal awareness camp was organized under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Principal District & Sessions Judge, Vinod Chatterji Koul. The camp was organised on the concept envisaged under the new ‘Legal Services Camp Module’ Guidelines of NALSA which is an outreach initiative for legal awareness and empowerment as per the vision of the Executive Chairman NALSA, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Judge, Supreme Court of India.The programme was inaugurated by Justice Ali Mohammad Magray, Judge, High Court of J&K in the presence of Justice M K Hanjura, Judge, High Court of J&K. The programme was attended by Registrar General, High Court of J&K Sanjay Dhar, Director State Judicial Academy, Abdul Rashid Malik, and Member Secretary, J&K SLSA, R N Wattal.Justice Ali Mohammad Magray while delivering his address highlighted the scheme and initiatives undertaken as per the new NALSA module for conduct of camps under the leadership of Executive Chairman NALSA, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Judge, Supreme Court of India. He also emphasized for reaching out to the marginalized sections and creating awareness amongst them.

Various Government departments  including Labour, Social Welfare, Excise, School Education, Horticulture, State Commission for Women, Floriculture, Wildlife, ICPS, Health and various other organizations like AIDS Control Society, Narcotics Bureau, Team Jammu, J&K Bank and others installed their stalls displaying the schemes and programmes undertaken by them for the welfare of the people. Large section of the public was apprised about these schemes and programmes.The camp and law fair was first of its kind initiative undertaken in the state to create legal consciousness and awareness. A cultural programme was also organized on the occasion. Heritage School, Jammu, Govt. Higher Secondary School for Boys, R.S. Pura and MHACS, Nagbani, Jammu presented cultural items on topics ‘Save the Girl Child’, “Drug Abuse’ and ‘National Integrity’. The NALSA theme song was also played on the occasion. Participation certificates and trophies of appreciation were also distributed amongst the participants.The legal awareness camp and law fair was a huge success and a large section of the society benefitted from the schemes and programmes on display.
