Legal awareness camp by SCW concludes

A two-day legal awareness programme on women rights and legislations was organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women (SCW) concluded here today.Secretary J&K SCW Aijaz Abdullah, ACR Harbans Sharma, CEO B.S Jaral besides other officers and staff members were also present on the occasion.Resource person from Law Department Prof. Mohammad Arif spoke on Hindu Marriage Act and other legislations linked with various types of marriages in our society.Journalist and social activist Nidhi Sharma, while delivering lecture on domestic violence, asked the girls students to be vigilant and get in touch with legal aspects pertaining to issues faced by women and atrocities against them.Secretary SCW also threw light on women rights and said that in view of increasing crimes against women and violation of human rights, knowledge of law would get their grievances redressed without assistance of others.Chief Education Officer appreciated the SCW for organizing such type of legal awareness camp which updated girls about various legal provisions especially meant for them and also role of SCW in curbing the cases of domestic conflicts.
