Sajad Khan flags off students for “Wattan-Ko-Jano” tour

Says such tours help in overall personality dev of children

The Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sajad Ahmad Khan flagged off a group of 190 students from various parts of the State on 12 day’s under Youth Exchange Programme “Watan-ko-Jano” from MAM Stadium this afternoon.The tour has been organized by the JK State Rehabilitation Council of Social Welfare Department in association with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.While addressing the enthusiastic student, Sajad Khan said that it is a great opportunity for these children to know the rich heritage, culture, and understanding unity in diversity of our great nation.“Such tours expose the children to different cultures and areas of the country and go a long way in their overall personality development, he added.The Commissioner Secretary said during the tour the students would visit various historical places and get firsthand experience of their country’s rich historical background.The students were selected from remote areas of Kashmir and Jammu Divisions who would be accompanied by 20 Coordinators. During the tour children will get an opportunity to visit monuments in Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Ajmeer.Mission Director ICDS G. A Sofi, Executive Director State Rehabilitation Council, Rifat Arif and other Senior Officers were present on the occasion.
