Recruitment of Sweepers being done as per norms : Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura

Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Hanjura today informed the Legislative Council that only sweeper class/category is eligible for appointment for the post of Safaiwala.The Minister was responding to a calling attention notice by Pardeep Sharma on ‘the appointment of nonprofessional sweepers in hospitals etc’. “As per J&K Health & Medical Education (Subordinate Services) Recruitment Rules, the classification of Sweeper class does not exist in the Recruitment Rules, However, the eligibility and mode of recruitment for the post of Safaiwala is professional from Sweeper Class and is done 100% by direct recruitment,” the Minister said.He further informed that the vacant posts of Safaiwalas, as and when received from the concerned HoDs, are referred to the recruiting agencies for selection process and selected candidates are appointed against the District/Divisional level posts to meet out the requirement of the Health Institutions.
