FC HUDD reviews sanitation, ongoing works in Srinagar City

Financial Commissioner Housing and Urban Development Department, K.B Agarwal today visited various areas of Srinagar city to review Sanitation and ongoing works undertaken by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).Agarwal  toured several areas of the city including  Rakhe Aarat, Bemina Shehjar Apartments, Karan Nagar, Safa Kadal, Saiki Dafar, Tibetan colony  etc and was accompanied by Commissioner SMC Riyaz Ahmed Wani, Vice Chairman LAWDA, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Chief Engineer UEED, Director Urban Local Bodies, Director Floriculture and Senior Municipal Officers of Corporation. In order to take stock of ongoing drainage projects in Srinagar city, Mr Agarwal visited Shalteng drainage scheme, Mallagagh, Indra Nagar, Lal Chowk and inspected other drainage projects in city.Instructions were passed on to expedite ongoing works and ensure timely completion of these works.

Besides this, he also stressed on the need of improvising overall Sanitation of the city.He also paid a visit to the municipal landfill site at Achan where SMC officials briefed him about the various scientific steps being taken for improvisation of garbage management and mechanism of recently installed waste segregator.While emphasizing on the importance of waste segregation into biodegradable and non-biodegradable, Agarwal directed SMC to ensure that segregation at the source shall take place throughout the city gradually and in a phased manner.Later Financial Commissioner also took up an extensive meeting with all senior Officers of Corporation here at Municipal Central OfficeCommissioner SMC on the occasion gave a detailed presentation wherein all the various projects under AMRUT and other various steps being taken under different components were discussed at length.
