DDC Kulgam flags off flower growers for exposure tour

The District Development Commissioner,  Talat Parvez Rohella today flagged off a group of 54 flower growers of Kulgam district for a training-cum-exposure visit to Krishi Vigan Kindra, Mumbai.On the occasion, the Deputy Director Floriculture, District Floriculture Officer and Assistant Floriculture Officer Kulgam besides the officials of the department were present.The tour is being conducted with the purpose to acquaint growers with a practical demonstration on advanced floriculture techniques, low-cost storage techniques, using spot market in commodity exchange so that it can be used vibrant economic activity.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the growers to take full advantage of the tour and extensively interact with the experts from SKUAST at KVK to learn about the latest and innovative techniques in the field of floriculture.He impressed upon them to get themselves equipped with the knowledge and latest technical know-how for boosting productivity.The Deputy Director Floriculture, on the occasion, said that growers will be introduced to the techniques of construction and maintenance of greenhouses , planting, harvesting and marketing of the flowers and other aspects of floriculture.
