JRL stages protest against Kashmir civilian killings

Joint Resistance Leadership Wednesday staged a peaceful protest in old Srinagar city against the recent Shopian killings.   Three youth Javaid Ahmed, Suhail Ahmed and Rayees Ahmed were killed in Army firing on Saturday at Ganowpora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.Though Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continue to be under house detention, they addressed the protesters through cell-phones.The protest that was organized at Jamia Masjid Srinagar was led by senior separatist leader Muhammad Yasin Malik. Besides pro-freedom leaders, traders and locals also participated in the protest rally and they were carrying the placards and banners seeking an end to ‘genocide’ in Kashmir.    Malik while talking to reporters urged upon people to visit the Shopian district and pay their sympathies with the bereaved families. “I will myself visit Shopian on coming Friday and will offer prayers at Jamai Masjid there. I appeal people to visit there on coming Friday,” he said.   Malik also denounced the civilian killings. He said that India has let loose a reign of terror in Kashmir and are killing innocent civilians at will. (CNS)
