Abdul Gani Kohli reviews RDD works in Kalakote

Asks for optimal utilization of funds

Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli Monday directed the officers of Rural Development Department (RDD) to accelerate the pace of work on all ongoing developmental works under RDD sector to complete them in stipulated time frame and ensure optimal utilization of funds earmarked for the current fiscal.The instruction was given by the Minister while chairing officers’ meeting convened to discuss and review the pace of progress on different schemes and projects under RD Department in Kalakot.Threadbare discussions were held on pace of progress on various ongoing works under different sectors including PMAY, MGNERGA, and fund allocation.It was informed in the meeting that funds to the tune of Rs 24.50 crore have been released for the financial year 2017-2018 for execution of various developmental works to be taken in Kalakote.

It was also apprised in the meeting that the construction work on various foot bridges, culverts, community paths, ponds, link and inner roads are apace in the Constituency and efforts are afoot for completion of these works in a time bound manner.Taking stock of pace of work on culverts, the Minister asked the concerned to start construction work at  133 spots  already identified in the area on priority to full fill the long pending demand of the people of the area.Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed upon the officers to work with utmost dedication and honesty besides asked for using standard materials in every developmental works.

The Minister said that the funds is no constraint but need is to utilize the funds judiciously adding that the Centre government is providing liberal funding in all key sectors including RDD sector to the State .He said need of the hour is to identify the area specific developmental needs and prepare DPRs in this regard so that maximum lot  get benefitted by the welfare programme launched by the State and Centre Governments.Senior Officers of RDD besides other senior officers of Rajouri district were also present in the meeting.
