Police on Friday claimed to have apprehended a suspected woman “suicide bomber” from Kashmir Valley.Additional Director General of Police and IGP Kashmir Range Muneer Khan while confirming the arrest of the woman suspect suicide bomber said: “In fact if you remember two days back, where it has been reported that one lady has come to valley who could be a suicide bomber. I tell you that time yes we will be verifying the input”.So fortunately yesterday after working of all the leads we were able to apprehend the suspect late last night. So we will be taking to her, talking to our sister agencies, we will be covering every other lead to know what the facts are, Khan according to GNS said.Investigations into the case have been launched to ascertain the facts whether she is actually the suicide bomber or not, Khan said.Police sources, meanwhile, identified the lady as 18 year old human suicide bomber Sadiya Sheikh from Pune.

Pertinently, a high alert had sounded in Kashmir following an intelligence input that a non-Kashmiri woman suicide bomber might disrupt the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the Valley.According to a message circulated from the office of Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) to all district police heads and chief of security wing in Kashmir, "there is a strong input" that an 18-year-old woman non-Kashmiri woman might "cause a suicide bomb explosion" near or inside the Republic Day parade in Kashmir."All are directed to please ensure that frisking of ladies at the (venues) is done meticulously and with utmost caution so as to thwart the designs of anti-national elements," reads the message.
