PUCA & PUTIA urges Government to bail out Educational Institutions from financial crunch

Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) and Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) urged Govt to bail out the Unaided Technical Institutions from financial crunch. President, PUTIA, Dr. JS Dhaliwal said that due to the non payment of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) from last 3 years more than 100 good colleges accounts have been declared as Non Performing Assets (NPA) and banks have started the process for proceedings for taking possession and Auction. President, PUCA, Dr. Anshu Kataria while expressing concern over PMS funds said that over 1100 crore of PMS of around 3 lac SC Students of Punjab is due towards the Centre Government out of which 115 Crore has been released to the State Govt., 325 Crore is due for 2015-16 and 715 crore for 2016-17 & 45 Crore is the state liability.Senior Vice President, PUTIA, Dr. Zora Singh further said that admissions for the year 2018-19 has also been closed and more 500-600 crore would get due for this year also towards Govt. Zora Singh urged Govt. to release the funds at the earliest to save dying educational institutes of Punjab.Senior Vice President, PUTIA, Dr. Manjit Singh said that earlier the student of Punjab used to go South Indian States for higher education. But to make Punjab the education hub, the Entrepreneurs from Punjab managed to arrange money from private financers on heavy loans and now at this alarming stage the Govt should pay quick attention to save this Education sector.
