Dr. Bindal urges for permanent solution of Nahan land dispute

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Rajeev Bindal today met Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at New Delhi and submitted her some important documents regarding resolving long pending land dispute between Army and local people of Nahan town, the district headquarters of Sirmaur district.He apprised the Union Minister that this dispute had risen around 45 years ago due to some flaws in settlement as a result of which hundreds of families of ward number 12 of Nahan town and 12 adjoining villages were facing problems.Dr. Bindal said this matter had been raised many times with the state and union government in an effective manner. He himself had talked to former Defence Minister Manohar Parikar after which the union government had informed the Himachal government through a communiqué that if state could transfer equal amount of land to the Army as had been encroached by the local people, then this matter could be resolved. He requested to take action at the earliest in this matter as per the prior orders of the Defence ministry.He further apprised the Union Minister that the work on five kilometers long road between Banog and Jabal Ka Baag under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana had also delayed due to this dispute. The Union Minister assured Dr. Bindal that all efforts would be made to settle this issue permanently.
