SW Deptt organizes orientation cum awareness programme

A day-long orientation cum training programme was held today at Dak Bungalow Sopore which witnessed the participation of a large number of people from Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara of North Kashmir.The programme was organised by Social Welfare (SW) Department which aims at educating the people about various welfare schemes and programmes.On the occasion, various speakers highlighted the benefits of various centrally as well as state-sponsored schemes including pre-matric, post-matric and other scholarship schemes, during which emphasis was laid on awareness dissemination among masses.The speakers stressed for availing benefits from the schemes and said that these programmes mainly aim at improving the socio-economic conditions of poor and weaker sections of the society.Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the organizers for organising the programme and said that these events help in letting people know about the systematic functioning of the government, besides educating them about various welfare schemes. He stressed for effective participation of people in policy implementation and said that various social security schemes have been formulated by the government so that the marginalized and underprivileged citizens are not left out.

Meanwhile, Director Social Welfare Department Hashmat Ali Yatoo, who was the guest of honour of the event underlined the main motive of the programme and said that the department encompasses large sections of the society through various welfare schemes. He also presented a detailed account and said that about 9.20 lakh students have been covered among which Rs 154 crore have been distributed as scholarships. Moreover, he emphasized upon educating people into their respective areas about the benefits of these schemes.Among others District Social Welfare officers of Bandipora and Kupwara and other concerned were present on the occasion.
