Up-grading work on Bijbehara-Shopian-Zainpora road apace : Naeem Akhtar

‘Project to cost Rs 48.93 cr’

Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today informed the legislative Assembly that the widening , up-gradation of Bijberhara-Shopian road via Zainapora is in full swing and is expected to complete in next financial year (2018-19).He said work  was taken up under CRF in 2015-16 at a sanctioned cost of Rs.48.93 crore for an aggregate length of 12 kilometre  from Railway junction Bijbehara to Chirtagam (RD 2500 to RD 14500M).Replying to a question by Ajaz Ahmad Mir, the Minister said that out of a total length of 12 kilometres, a length of three kilometres has been upgraded to double lane and macadamized.The widening of the remaining length including construction of protection works and cross drainage is in progress. He said this stretch of road is expected to be completed in the year 2018-19.Mr. Naeem further told the House that the Aglar-Shopian road via Turkawangam under the nomenclature “T02 Shopian in Aglar” has been sanctioned under Phase-X of PMGSY for up-gradation. He said that   the scheme was taken up in March, 2017 and 45 percent work has been completed by way of construction of retaining/breast walls, drains, cross drainage works, berm development in different kilometres and three kilometres of macadamization.

 He further told that the scheme is targeted to be completed in September 2018 as per agreement with the executing agency.
