DDC reviews R-Day arrangements

District Development Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar today convened a meeting with concerned officers to review the arrangements for celebration of Republic Day.The officers from civil administration, police, defence and paramilitary forces  including Additional District Development Commissioner, Abdul Hamid, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bashrat Hussein, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashraf  Chowdhary, Chief planning Officer Seva Ram, ASP Anwaarul Haq, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE and PDD, CEO tourism, ACD, DPO, District Youth Services and Sports Officer and representatives of various departments were present in the meeting.It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held at Sports Stadium, Poonch where the national flag would be unfurled by the chief guest followed by the parade comprising the contingents from JKP, JKAP, CRPF, NCC cadets and schoolchildren.It was further informed that colorful cultural programmes based on nationalism, local folks and local culture would also be presented by the students on the occasion.

The issues related to security including area domination, seating arrangements, transport, drinking water and electricity supply, barricading, traffic regulation, illumination of important buildings, Medicare and sanitation were discussed in the meeting.It was decided that the celebrations will begin with Shahnai Vadan by Department of Information and Public Relations.The DDC also constituted various committees like cultural programme screening committee, award committee, reception committee for the VVIPs, and   committee for monitoring the arrangements.It was also told that separate reviews with these committees shall be held in coming days regarding the status of overall arrangements for the national event.The DDC directed the concerned officers and agencies to ensure better coordination for arranging all arrangements well in place for making national function a grand success.
