Dr. Nirmal Singh lays foundation stone for Accident, Emergency Block in SNMH

Inaugurates bridges over Indus River at Tar, Gyara villages worth Rs. 10.60 crore

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today laid foundation stone for Accident and Emergency Block in Sonam Norboo Memorial Hospital (SNMH) Leh to be constructed under PMDP with an estimated cost of Rs. 302 lakh besides inaugurating OT equipments procured under special task force besides doctors room and staff room cum pantry.CEC, LAHDC Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, EC Works, EC A&SH, EC Tourism, Councilor Upper Leh, SP Leh, ASP Leh, CMO, MS besides doctors and staff were present on the ocassion.Addressing the gathering at SNM Hospital, the Dy CM said that the present government is committed to make Ladakh a self reliant region by extending there all basic necessities and advanced infrastructural facilities keeping in view the unique and tough topography and tremendous challenges in this part of the state.Dr. Singh said that efforts are being made to assure adequate power supply in the region and it is firm determination of the government to make sure that every village is electrified in Ladakh by the end of 2019. He also ensured to personally take up the demand for medical college in Ladakh region at state and centre level.

The Dy CM asked CEC to evolve an effective mechanism for functioning of various departments considering the short working season in the region. He asked him to submit project proposals for further raising facilities in remote villages like Demchok so that people may not have to suffer on this account. He said that the government is committed to support the Council in all its endeavours envisaging development and welfare of the region.CEC, Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, expressed gratitude to the Dy CM for his visit to Leh which reflects his concern towards the people of Ladakh. He stressed upon the need of further streamlining of healthcare services in the region. He requested Dr. Nirmal Singh for opening of medical college in Leh, creation and filling up of vacant posts in sub-district hospital Nyoma and Khaltsi, exposure trainings for doctors, opening of AMT School in Leh and filling up the staff shortage in health department.DC Leh, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.A cultural program was also presented by the medical staff on the occasion.

Later, Dy CM inaugurated two motorable bridges over Indus River at Tar and Gyara villages situated about 100  Km west of Leh district which have been constructed with a cost of Rs. 4.95 crore under STF and Rs. 5.65 crore under 13th Finance Commission respectively.Addressing pubic gathering at Gyara, Dy CM greeted the people the villages for commissioning of these major bridges which have been dedicated to them as a gift on the eve of Losar.Dr. Singh appreciated the dedicated and pro people approach of the Council led by CEC Dr. Dawa. He said that state government is according priority to expeditious and quality completion of development works in Leh district through Hill Council Leh.Responding to the demand of Gyara-Mangyu village for realignment of power line in their area, Dy. CM on spot directed PDD department to look into the issue for an early redressal.CEC Dr. Dawa reiterated that present 5th Hill Council under the guidance of PM Narender Modi is committed to bring revolutionary changes in the district in terms of rapid growth and development. He expressed gratitude to the Dy. CM for taking keen interest in the welfare of people of Ladakh region.Dr. Singh also greeted the people of Ladakh on the auspicious occasion of Losar.
