Chander Prakash Ganga chairs 87th BoDs meeting of JK SICOP

Directs JK SICOP to put in strenuous efforts to support SSI units

The 87th Board of Directors meeting of JK Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. (SICOP) was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, here today.Minister of State for Industries & Commerce, Farooq Ahmed Andrabi, Vice Chairman SICOP Ali Mohammad Mir and Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Department, Shailendra Kumar attended the meeting.Managing Director, SICOP R.L. Tickoo gave a brief description of the activities undertaken by the Corporation besides achievements made in facilitating hassle free services to small sector in the State.Various agenda points were deliberated upon besides a general view of the functioning of Corporation was also taken up in the meeting.It was informed in the meeting that SICOP has achieved a turnover of Rs 518.87 crore upto November 2017 against a target of Rs 755.00 crore during the financial year 2017-18. It was further informed that annual turnover of the Corporation in respect of marketing, raw material and other activities has also increased manifold.

The Board appreciated the role of the Corporation in establishing a well planned IT wing and data Center of Industries and Commerce department to go for digitization as well as Ease of Doing Business in order to provide a comfortable and conducive atmosphere to startup businesses besides besides facilitating the business fraternity.Ganga directed the SICOP management to put in strenuous efforts to supports the SSI units of the State which is the primary activity of the Corporation.Emphasizing upon the need to boost employment in small scale industrial sector, Ganga directed management of SICOP to redouble their efforts to assist the SSI units in all the potential areas. Regarding establishment of Data Centre of Industries & Commerce which has been established and maintained by JK SICOP, the Minister said that this Data Centre shall not only cater to IT based services to the Industries & Commerce Department but other government agencies as well.Director Industries & Commerce Jammu, Director Industries & Commerce Kashmir, Directors on BOD SICOP, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Rakesh Gupta, Lalit Mahajan, besides representatives from Finance and Planning Department and officers from Industries & Commerce Department & JK SICOP also present in the meeting.
