DDC chairs disaster management authority meet

District Development Commissioner , Angrez Singh Rana, today chaired the District Disaster Management Authority meeting and reviewed the overall preparedness  and measures put in place by the district administration  to  meet any kind of eventuality in case of inclement weather.Officers of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), CO 17 RR, CO 52 CRPF Battalion, CO CISF, ASP Kishtwar, Xen Hydraulic, EM&RE and other were present in the meeting . Threadbare discussion was held on various  issues including establishment of full-fledged District Disaster Management Centre, at Kishtwar, availability of necessary men and machinery, civil defence volunteers and putting in place an effective monitoring plan to tackle  disasters  the district.During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner reviewed the overall preparedness of Civil Defence, SDRF and Fire and Emergency services in dealing with any kind of calamity. He urged upon all the officers to work with close coordination so that quick response is ensured in case of any eventuality.While stressing upon the rescue teams to be prepared for any disaster, the DDC asked the SDRF and other agencies to conduct mock drills across the district to aware the people about safety measures.The DDC was informed that SDRF is on standby mode and it will be further augmented by personnel from police, Fire and Emergency Services and volunteers. It was further informed that at various vulnerable locations SDRF have trained volunteers so that they can help during the time of need.Meanwhile, Headquarter Assistant was directed to ensure round the clock working of the District Emergency Operation Center established in the office of District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, for quick response.
