Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today paid rich tributes to Captain Bahadur Singh (Vir Chakra), who laid down his life for the nation during Operation Cactus Lilly in 1971 Indo-Pak war, on his 45th martyrdom anniversary observed today at his native village BhamboChak, Ramgarh in Samba.The Minister laid wreath at the memorial of Captain Bahadur in a function organized by the Captain Bahadur Singh Samarak Samiti to commemorate the day.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the people of Jammu have a history of serving the nation and sacrificing their lives for the motherland adding that Shaheed Bahadur Singh was a brave son of the soil who scarified his life while serving the nation.The Minister exhorted upon the youth to get inspiration from the sacrifices of martyrs and serve the nation. He appealed them to put in hard efforts in their respective fields and refrain themselves from social evils.The Minister urged the people to participate in the nation building process by working together against corruption and other social evils which would be a real tribute to the martyr. Ganga, on the occasion, also awarded the meritorious students of the Government schools of the area who performed well in academics.Deputy Commissioner Sheetal Nanda, SSP Anil Magotra, senior officers from the concerned departments, members of Shaheed Samarak Samiti and locals of the area were present on the occasion.
