Punjab Kala Parishad Celebrates 145th Birth Anniversary Of Bhai Vir Singh

The Punjab Kala Parishad here today celebrated the 145th birth anniversary of the father of the modern Punjabi literature Bhai Vir Singh. In a seminar held to mark the occasion, Prof. Avtar Singh delivered a lecture throwing light on the personality and literary legacy bestowed by the doyen of Punjabi literature. He said that the creations of Bhai Vir Singh had an anti-colonial streak and were instrumental in strengthening the roots of Punjabi culture.Chairing the seminar, Prof. Tejwant Gill brought into focus the ideological aspect of the creations of Bhai Vir Singh besides highlighting their social and cultural importance.The Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Surjit Patar gave valuable insights into the historical role and modern day relevance of the great writer. In the discussions held, Mr. Harpal Singh, Diwan Manna, Surinder Gill, Kewal Dhaliwal and Dr. Sahib Singh aired their views.The seminar was conducted by the Secretary General of the Parishad, Dr. Lakhwinder Johal. Others who attended the seminar included Sriram Arsh, Prem Gorkhi, Sarbjit Kaur Sohal, Teja Singh Thooha, Sunil Kumar, Avtar Singh, Deepak Sharma Chanarthal, Sukhi Brar and Prof. Rajpal Singh.
