MRSPTU signs MoU with Canadian University for credit transfer study

The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda (MRSPTU) signed a MOU with the Thompson Rivers University, Canada for credit transfer study. The MoU was signed here today by the officials of both the Universities in the presence of Punjab Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi.The Technical Education Minister said that as per the MoU signed by both the Universities, it would provide an opportunity for the students of Punjab to study as well as to work abroad. He further said that the University should also focus on collaborating with the other Universities of Canada and other countries on such projects to facilitate the Youth of the state.The Vice Chancellor of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University Prof. MPS Ishar while elaborating about the MoU said in the first phase the credits earned by the students from  Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University will be transferred by Thompson Rivers University Canada for awarding BCS degree and students B.Tech Computer Science & B.Tech I.T courses can avail this benefit in the first phase. He said that the students would study for two years here and after that they will get a chance to go to Thompson Rivers University, Canada to complete the degree. "The students after completing two years study at Canada will be eligible for three year work permit in Canada", added the Vice Chancellor. In the second phase with approval of governing bodies, similar programmes in other courses and dual/joint degree programs may also be started.Mr. Matt Milovick Vice President, Administration & Finance & Baihua Chadwick Associate Vice President International Operations of the Thompson Rivers University Canada said that it would lead to the opening up of new vistas in educational sector for the students from Punjab.Others prominent personalities present on the occasion included Prof. Jasbir Singh Hundal Registrar MRSPTU, Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu Dean, P&D MRSPTU, Mr. Gunraj Gill and Mr. Prabh Randhawa from Canada.
