Speaker Kavinder Gupta inaugurates development works in Bathindi

Visits Library Hall of Assembly Secretariat, calls for expediting digitization

Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today inaugurated macadamization work on a road at Bathindi which would be completed at a cost of Rs 4 crore.He appreciated the officers and engineers for completion of work on the road in the fixed timelines and expressed optimism that they will perform their duties with utmost devotion and sincerity to ensure timely and quality completion of all ongoing works.The Speaker, while interacting with the locals, complimented them for the road saying that it is the endeavor of present dispensation that a durable road network is expanded across the state with focus on unattended parts. He also elaborated on the development initiatives of the government and sought people’s whole-hearted participation in the efforts of the government of steering the state to new highs of progress and prosperity. He informed the locals that Detailed Project Reports for Batoli and Bandhi Water Supply Schemes costing Rs 36 crore have been prepared and submitted to the Government of India for approval. He said with these water supply schemes would cater to the drinking water needs of Batoli, Bathindi and adjoining areas.

Interacting with the officer of Public Works Department, the Speaker asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and expedite the pace of work on all ongoing road projects of the area and completed them in a time frame.Responding the demands put forth by the locals, the Speaker said that he is aware about the genuine grievances of the people and said that efforts are afoot to provide better basic amenities to the people of the State.Earlier, the Speaker inspected the Library Hall of Assembly Secretariat and other wings.The Speaker, while reviewing the status of digitization of Assembly records, said that all references available in the Library and the proceedings of the House including budget speech, resolutions, amendments or other related information should be available on website. He directed the concerned to ensure expeditious execution of this digitization project for speedy completion. “Keeping in view the greater use of digital technology, general masses should have easy and ready access to the information and the proceedings of the house”, he asserted.The Speaker was accompanied by legislator Sat Paul Sharma, Secretary Assembly, M R Singh and a team of experts from the respective field besides Senior Officers of Assembly Secretariat.
