Rana KP Singh Calls Upon Legislators To Make Collective Efforts To Ensure Welfare Of Punjab

Two Day Special Orientation Program For Members Of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Concludes At MGSIPA

The Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Rana KP Singh today called upon the legislators of the state to rise above the party politics and work collectively to ensure the welfare of Punjab.Referring the Leo Tolstoy's quote, "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself" in his valedictory address and concluding remarks on the concluding day of Special Orientation Program for Members of Punjab Vidhan Sabha here at MGSIPA, Rana KP Singh said that we are people's representatives and thus subject to scrutiny for 24 hours a day. " our aim is not limited to serve our party alone, our ultimate goal is to work for the welfare of the state. Always keep in mind that our people are watching us and they are noticing what we are doing", said Rana KP. Speaker urged that the stage of the Vidhan Sabha should be used for the betterment of the people and the legislators should raise their issues in the house in a constructive manner. "I hope that this Orientation Program is a learning experience as the members have been given important information regarding assembly proceedings, parliamentarian procedures and various other aspects that have utmost importance for a legislator. I also hope that impact of this orientation program will be reflected in the future assembly sessions", said Rana KP while assuring that such programs would be organised in future too to enrich the knowledge base of the legislatures on various issues.

Replying to the demand raised by legislators to call long assembly sessions in the future, Rana K.P. Singh assured that he would impress upon the government to call longer sessions in the future adding that legislators should ensure that they would utilise the precious time of house only for raising constructive issues.Mr. Speaker thanked the experts and especially the first time legislators for their cooperation in making this program a successful event. He also lauded the way first time MLAs raised their issues in last session. He said that future belongs to these young legislators and appealed them to work wholeheartedly for the betterment of the state.Earlier, giving their feedback on the behalf of all the legislators attending the orientation Program, Mr. Kuljit Singh Nagra, Mr. Arun Narang and Mrs. Sarvjit Kaur Manuke expressed their satisfaction and appealed to organise such programs in future also to make it a continuous process. Prominent amongst others Mr. Sarvash Kaushal, Special Chief Secretary cum Director General of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Ms. Raji P. Srivastava, Director and Ms. Shashi Lakhanpal Mishra, Secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha were also present.
