Horticulture Department organizes awareness camp at Ajote

A mega Farmers awareness programme was organized by the Department of Horticulture Poonch in 'Pecan Nut Village Ajote', to create awareness on pecan nut cultivation in the area.MLA Pooch, Shah Mohammad Tantry and District Development Commissioner (DDC), Poonch Tariq Ahmad Zargar were present on the occasion.Various issues raised by farmers regarding overall horticulture schemes and activities which were  redressed by Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) Poonch,  Sushil Angurana.Addressing the gathering, MLA Tantray appreciated the efforts of district administration in reaching out to the people by holding regular interaction with the farming community whether in the shape of grievances redressal or by organizing awareness camp. He asked the farmers to take advantage of various welfare schemes being launched by the Government for their welfare.Speaking on the occasion, DDC Poonch highlighted the importance of horticulture and agriculture sectors in overall improving the socio - economic conditions of the people and making the district self sufficient in horticulture produce.While counting the economic and nutritious value of Pecan- Nut, the DDC asked the farmers to adopt latest technology and pay interest in commercial crops including pecan nut for which climatic conditions of the region is conducive.The locals also projected other issues before the dignitaries and demand for holding more such camps in other parts of the district.Responding the demands put forth by the people, the DDC assured for holding public grievances redressal camps in near future in the area.A good number of Farmers from khari karmar, Digwar Maldana and Ajote villages were participated in the Camp.
