The District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar today chaired a joint meeting of bankers and sponsoring agencies to review the progress achieved under the targeted schemes launched by the banks in collaboration with the line departments for the quarter ending September2017.The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Pulwama, LDO RBI Anil Kumar, DDM NABARD S.M. Zaffar and District Coordinators of all the banks. Besides Chiefs/District officers, heads of all the line departments of the State Government/sponsoring agencies were also present in the meeting.Lead District Manager informed the chair that total credit developed by all the banks operating in the district upto the quarter ending September 2017 of current financial year stands at Rs 1854.20 crore. Out of this Rs 1334.56 crore (71.97% of total credit) stands deployed under Priority Sector Lending and Rs 519.64 crore (28.03%) under non-priority sector. Credit Deposit Ratio at the end of September 2017 stands at 79.33% as against 73.20% recorded for June 2017.Under Agricultural and Horticultural which are very crucial sectors of economy, banks have disbursed an amount of Rs 239.76 crore to 7737 beneficiaries against the target of Rs 645.14 crore to 30502 beneficiaries., resulting in achievement of 37% and 25% in terms of financial and physical targets respectively.

Under export sector a recently introduced activity banks have reported no progress against stipulated annual targets of 10.00 crore to 10 beneficiaries till 30th September 2017. The DDC expressed his displeasure over the dismal performance in export credit and sought detailed report in this regard. The chairman further said that District Pulwama has a huge potential in export activities. The need of the hour is to make aware the public who are involved in the export business like saffron, walnut, apricot and other agricultural & horticultural products regarding the export lending facilities by the banks.The meeting was informed education sector another preferred segment under Priority sector, has achieved a positive growth. During this quarter ending September 2017, Rs 1.52 crore have been disbursed in favour of 151 beneficiaries against the target of Rs 9.76 crore to 244 beneficiaries resulting in achievement of 16% and 62% in financial and physical terms respectively.Director RSETI was instructed to make arrangements for awareness programme regarding Potential benefits of using High Density Plantation in the district with experts from SKUAST and Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture Srinagar so as to disseminate information on modern scientific know how and applied technology in horticulture sector.
