The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to tell who was right - its Punjab unit led by Sukhpal Khaira or Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying it was continuing to deceive Punjabi farmers with its culture of double speak. In a statement here, party spokesman Sikander Singh Maluka said like on the issue of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, the AAP units of Punjab and Delhi were speaking in different voices deliberately. "This time again both units have taken contrarian stands on paddy stubble burning as part of a sinister plan to befool their respective electorates. Accordingly Khaira has tried to show farmers that he is with them even as Arvind Kejriwal wants paddy stubble burning to stop immediately".

Asking AAP not to fool Punjabis with their double speak, Maluka said the party should speak in one voice in case it wanted to be taken seriously. "Also if Kejriwal is also really concerned about the fate of the Punjabi farmers he should extend a liberal grant to them immediately on behalf of the AAP Delhi government. If he does this it will imply that he empathises with farmers who do not have the means to dispose off paddy stubble on their own and need to be given financial help. If Kejriwal does not extend financial aid to the Punjabi farmer and continues to rave and rant to get cheap publicity it will be clear that AAP only wants to befool the electorate of both Punjab and Delhi and is not concerned about either the Punjabi farmer or the people of Delhi."Asking AAP to clarify its stand immediately, Mr Maluka said empty gestures would further convince Punjabi farmers that it was not concerned about their plight and was only playing politics with them.
