Lok Sabha elections will be fair & transparent: Sidhu

Civil & Police administration will perform their duty with mutual understanding, to ensure compliance of election code.

Transparent & fair elections will be conducted on 30 April in Kharar, SAS Nagar & Dera Bassi constituencies of SAS Nagar District. In adherence to the guidelines of election commission, to ensure compliance of modal election code, Civil & Police administration will perform their duty with mutual perceptive. Strict action as per election commission guidelines will be initiated, against the candidate, if found guilty for violating the election code. This was stated by District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu, while he was conducting a special meeting with Sh. Gurcharan Singh Sandhu SSP Punjab Police regarding necessary security & other relevant arrangements for Lok Sabha elections. During meeting discussion regarding appropriate security arrangement in view of elections was held.

District electoral officer said that in view of Lok Sabha elections, various teams constituting officers of Civil & Police Administration have been formed. 17 Nodal officers for controlling these teams have been deputed. Sh. Sidhu said that Lok Sabha elections will be conducted without any fear. He said that strict action will be taken against the candidate or supporters if found guilty for manipulating the voters with money or by any means like bribing, intimidation of voter. He said that handling & travelling with huge money without proper documents is prohibited therefore to hassle free travel with huge money, the bearer should have proper documents.

District electoral officer said that approximate 6 lac 7 thousand 799 voters will cast their votes on elections day. He said that to facilitate peaceful voting in the district 685 polling booths have been formed. He explained that 221 Polling Booths have been formed in SAS Nagar constituency, 224 Polling booths in Kharar constituency and 200 Polling booths have been formed in Dera Bassi Constituency.  While explaining about the sensitivity of booths, Sh. Sidhu said that 122 booths in the district are hyper-sensitive & 231 booths are sensitive. In Kharar constituency there are 224 Polling booths in which 23 booths are hyper-sensitive whereas 129 are sensitive.  In SAS Nagar constituency, there are 221 Polling booths, out of which 32 booths are hyper-sensitive & 45 booths are sensitive. In constituency Dera Bassi out of total 240 Polling booths, 67 are hyper-sensitive & 57 Polling booths are sensitive.

During the meeting, SSP Punjab Police, Sh. Gurcharan Singh Sandhu said that appropriate arrangements have been done to maintain peace & harmony in the district during elections. He said that eye is being kept on & proper monitoring is being done. He said that the right of every inpidual for peaceful and undisturbed home-life shall be respected and nobody will be allowed to harm the peace in the district. Sh. Sandhu said that special security arrangements will made on the elections day to maintain peace & conduct fearless and transparent elections.
