The Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf (Independent charge), PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, PDD and I&C, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today during his extensive visit to Dooru and Qazigund areas inaugurated two Water Supply Schemes namely WSS Kulamchinar and WSS Tanjloo besides laying the foundation stone for upgradation of WSS Agnoo.The minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik, Chief Engineer PHE and I&FC, SDM Dooru, ACD, Exens of R&B, PHE, I&FC, Tehsildars and other officers.The lift water supply scheme Kulamchinar will be benefitting 3000 souls of two villages- Kulamchinar and Shankerpora. The WSS is having the capacity of 35000 gallons per day which has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 218.39 lacs. The scheme has been funded by National Rural Drinking Water Programme.  Later, the Minister laid the foundation stone for augmentation of WSS Agnoo whose capacity shall be enhanced from 20000 gallons per day to 40000 gallons per day at an estimated cost of Rs 139 lakh. The scheme shall benefit 1800 souls and will cater a population of 2922 by 2028. On the occasion, the minister interacted with the locals who presented their demands. On spot, the minister issued directions for the upgradation of transformer from 63 KV to 100 KV. He said that other demands pertaining to roads, water and rations will also be considered and shall be prioritized.While addressing the public gathering at Tanjloo on the inaugural ceremony of WSS Tanjloo, he said that government is committed to prosperity and development of the people.Regarding the issue of power curtailments, the minister said that the curtailments shall be minimised and properly scheduled. He, however, appealed the people to make the judicious use of electricity.The WSS Tanjloo will benefit 2064 souls and shall cater to a population of 4662 by 2032. The scheme has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 256.35 lakh.
