Acharya Devvrat pays tribute to Police martyr ASI Amin Chand

Governor Acharya Devvrat today paid rich tribute to Police martyr ASI Amin Chand, during Police Commemoration Day function organised by Chandigarh Police at his native place at Lunj in Kangra district.The day is observed every year to pay homage to those police personnel who laid down their lives at Hot Spring (Ladakh) while patrolling in Indian Territory in an attack by Chinese Army on 21 October 1959 as well as for those police personnel who laid their lives on duty all over the country during past years. 

The Governor said that martyr Amin Chand was the pride of the region, who sacrificed his life for the cause of the Nation and gave inspiration to the future generations. He said that he was one of those people who created history of sacrifice through his deeds and glorified the region. He said, "Such a great person does not get death but he gets immortality."The Governor said that society, community and country were alive who always remember their great sons.He assured that he would urge the government to name the road of area after martyr Amin Chand.The Governor honoured the wife of martyr Amin Chand Smt. Shanti Devi. He also released a souvenir- "Remembering our Heroes", published by Chandigarh Police on the occasion,The Governor distributed school bags to the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Lunj on behalf of martyr family.  Earlier, Shri Jagminder Patyal, son of martyr Amin Chand welcomed the Governor.Shri S.R.Mardi, DGP, Home Guard proposed vote of thanks.Shri Mukesh Rajput, Editor, News-18, senior police officers of Chandigarh and Himachal police and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
