Mir Zahoor Ahmad reviews progress of PHE schemes in Pampore Constituency

Asks Officers ensure early drinking water facilities to Batipora Ladoo, Androosa villages

Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad reviewed the status of ongoing schemes in Public Health Engineering (PHE) sector in Pampore Constituency at a meeting of officers and engineers today. The meeting was told that under National Rural Drinking Water Supply Programme (NRDWP), the construction work on Water Supply Schemes (WSS) Samboor, Konibal New, Neehama, Galandher and WSS Zabdaji are under execution in Pampore Constituency and work on these projects are in full swing. These schemes are expected to cost Rs 18.37 crore out of which Rs 9.58 crore stand expended so far. It was given out that out of 5 WSSs, 2 are nearing completion. On completion of all five WSSs it will benefit more than 37480 souls of these areas, the meeting was told.

It was also informed in the meeting that under Kacharary land Compensation (KLC) the construction work on WSS Lethapora is a apace and are expected to be completed soon.

Taking stock of water supply facility to Batipora Ladoo and Androosa villages, Mir Zahoor directed the concerned officers to make special arrangements for early providing of drinking water facilities to these villages. Addressing the meeting, the Minister impressed upon the engineers to complete all ongoing schemes in a time bound schedule so that people get the benefits well in time. He asked the engineers to undertake work on a scheme when fully assured about the dependability of a source. He also asked them to conduct survey of the area and identify the habitations who have scarcity of drinking water facility and ensure early providing of drinking water facility to them.He said as Government headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State.The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, PHE, Kashmir, Abdul Wahid, Joint Director Planning, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic Shopian and other Senior Officers of PHE Department.
