Ajay Nanda kick starts blacktopping work on Reasi-Baradari road

Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda today kick started macadamization work on vital Reasi-Baradari road link. The link road connects Reasi town with main Katra-Pouni road.The blacktopping of 3.4 km road   from IRP chowk would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore by Public Works Department.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister informed that over 19 km road length has been macadamized in Reasi division by the PWD so far, while the department is working hard to achieve the fixed targets under the component.The Minister also appreciated the department for taking up blacktopping of 17 km Reasi-Katra main road which was the major demand of the local people because of its importance from tourism point of view. He also said that the department would soon blacktop the Nai-Basti to SSP office road, Rud bridge-Thanpal road etc.After the launch of work, the Minister said that improvement of road infrastructure in general and connecting tourist destinations in particular is first priority of the present government for which concerted efforts are being made.He said that apart from benefitting local people, better road network would also increase tourist footfall at the holy places and promote rural economy.Referring to other road works being executed under various schemes, the Minister said that instructions have been passed to accelerate work on all road projects already been sanctioned by the government.The Minister was accompanying by officials, engineers and local people of the surrounding areas.
