VC SKUAST-K calls on Governor

Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, met Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan.Prof. Nazeer Ahmad briefed the Governor about the progress achieved in the academic, research, extension and infrastructural development arenas in the past months. He also apprised him about the to-date outcome of the initiatives to rationalize available staff strength and the status of vacancies in the teaching and non-teaching positions in the University.Prof. Ahmad informed Governor that: the Faculty of Forestry, Benihama, has been accredited by the Accreditation Board of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Dehradun, for a period of five years (2017-2022); 808 students have been admitted to Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses through the Common Entrance Test; 9 teachers have been selected by the ICAR to be given the Best Teacher Award; University has secured approval for 19 projects, worth Rs. 9.36 crore, which are funded by different external agencies; a herbal garden was established at Faculty of Forestry, Benihama for germplasm conservation and experimentation; ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ programme was organized by all KVKs; and ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign was launched from 15th September, 2017 to 2nd October, 2017 at all KVKs under “Swachh Bharat Mission”.Complimenting the VC for the continuing advancements being achieved by the University, the Governor re-iterated his concern for high attention being paid, on sustained basis, for improving the teaching programmes and achieving tangible outcomes in all the research projects.
