Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's allegations against BJP president Amit Shah's son Jay were a manifestation of the Congress scion's political frustration. In a statement here, the SAD president said one political defeat after another had made Rahul Gandhi so desperate that he was resorting to character assassination by becoming a party to false and derogatory aspersions being cast against Jay Shah." Isn't it shameful that you are banking on malicious imputations against Jay Shah to besmirch the reputation of BJP president Amit Shah but have yet to comment on the Justice Dhingra Commission which was constituted by the Haryana government to look into the land transactions made by your brother in law Robert Vadra? Findings of the Committee available in public domain indicate that your brother in law has been indicted for making illegal profits of Rs 50.50 crore from land deals in Haryana in 2008 without spending a single penny. You as well as the Congress party should tell the people why you have been shielding Robert Vadra's shady deals" he added.Asserting that the politically motivated allegations against Jay Shah had been timed in view of the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the SAD president said the people had now started understanding Rahul Gandhi's propensity to level false allegations against all and sundry with impunity. "This has become a habit with the Congress Vice President. I am confident the people of Gujarat and Himachal will see through this game and give a resounding defeat to the Congress in both States", he added.Speaking about the malicious imputations cast against Jay Shah, the SAD president said Jay's company had taken loans from cooperative and commercial banks to expand his Agro commodities business. He said these loans had been repaid through cheques on commercial rates and the same had been reflected in income tax returns. Asking Rahul Gandhi not to mislead people by referring to the increase in turnover of the company, Mr Badal said Rahul should know that Agro commodities was a high volume and high value business with low margins. "Obviously turnover will be high in such business models", he added. Mr Badal also asked Rahul Gandhi to introspect on his own failings instead of levelling false allegations against his political opponents. "Your failed leadership has decimated the Congress party across the country. Instead of learning from your mistakes you are following the age old Congress policy of tarnishing the reputation of your political opponents by manufacturing lies against them. All this will reduce your already diminished esteem further in the eyes of the people. They will soon hold you and your party accountable for this web of slander and deceit", he added.
