SIT will get to truth of hair-chopping incidents soon : SP Vaid

Director General of Police S P Vaid today said that very soon a special investigation of Police, constituted to investigate hair-chopping incidents, will get true picture about them in Kashmir. “We have constituted a SIT and very soon “Doodh ka doodh, pani ka pani ho jayega (we will get a true picture,” he according to news agency Global News Service (GNS) said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an official function at DPL Pulwama which was attacked by three militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit last month. Eight forces’ personnel, including four CRPF men and as many policemen, were killed along with the three militants in the attack. Several incidents of chopping of hair braids were reported in remote areas of Kulgam district and the Chenab Valley recently.The SIT was constituted after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti directed the Director General of Police to constitute it to probe the mysterious hair snipping incidents reported in the state, especially in Kulgam district.“The chief minister directed the DGP to constitute a special team to identify and bring to justice those behind the mysterious hair chopping incidents which came to the fore in Kulgam district and other places in the state,” an official had said.Mehbooba asked the DGP to expedite the probe in such cases which have caused panic among young girls and their parents, he said.A police spokesman said that in view of increasing incidents of braid-cutting, the SIT was constituted by superintendent of police Kulgam to investigate these cases under the supervision of additional SP Kulgam.He said that public is requested to come forward to help the police in speedy investigation. “People are advised to inform police about any such incident immediately,” he said.A helpline has also been established at police control room Kulgam which will remain open 24x7, the spokesman said. “People are advised to call on +91 7051510660 for any help and assistance.” (GNS)
