Women empowerment only possible though good education: Acharya Devvrat

Governor Acharya Devvrat said that primary objective of the education was to instil human values among children and huge responsibility rested on the shoulders of teachers who carried out the most important task of nation building.He was speaking during the annual function of DAV Public School Lakkar Bazar, here today.The Governor urged the teaching community to take up the challenge of building nation dedicatedly as they carved the destinies of pupils as well as of country.  He said that they influenced the minds of students powerfully than any other, hence instilling good values, shaping the character of students at young age could have a lasting effect. He said the students should prove to be assets to the nation then only the purpose of education could be fulfilled.He called upon youth to come forward to build a clean and healthy society free of all the social evils. He said that there was a need to adopt traditional values and ancient wisdom of our rich traditional literature which were almost forgotten in the present times.  He stressed upon educating the girl child and empowering women in the society by according them proper status and respect.

Lauding the contribution of Swami Dayanand, he said that swami not only revived the glory of our rich culture but also laid foundation for removing social evils from the society. He said that girl's education and upliftment of women were also the main focus areas of Swami Dayanand. He said that it was essential to empower women in the society and education was best means to achieve the same. He used to say that India had fallen to such a miserable condition precisely because women were not given education but were kept in ignorance. He also encouraged the widows remarriage and raised voice against this social stigma.The Governor lauded the contribution of DAV institutions in imparting qualitative value based education.He visited an exhibition put up by the students of the school.Padam Shree Awardee Dr. Poonam Suri, President, DAV managing committee & President, Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi briefed about the qualitative educating being imparted through DAV institutes in 23 states of the country. He lauded the efforts of the teachers who have been brought DAV to the heights of success.Principal, Kamna Beri said that the school had made a commendable progress in academics, co curricular and extracurricular activities and was emerging as a leading centre for creative, experimental, innovative education in Shimla.A colourful cultural programme was presented on the occasion.Lady Governor Smt. Darshana Devi, Members of DAV Central Management Committee, New Delhi, Directors of Local Management Committee,  Staff, children and their guardians were present on the occasion.
