From Leh and Kargil, Dr. Hina starts special drive for SC/ST under PMEGP

Appealing people of Leh and Kargil to join One India Mission of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Hon’ble Chairperson (NZ)  Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) sought end to unemployment of Leh and Kargil areas of Jammu & Kashmir State.After starting special drive for SC/ST under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for Leh and Kargil Districts, Dr. Hina said that the targets allocated earlier have been increased by 2.5 times. It was 32 crores earlier and the same have been increased to 82 Crores.Flagging self-employment as the only way forward, Dr. Hina said with peace and cooperation new vistas of progress and development for the people could be opened. She said given its picturesque beauty,  Leh and Kargil areas has maximum population of SC/ST, starting their entrepreneurship under PMEGP would give the local economy a fillip like it has given to other areas of the State.During the tour of Leh and Kargil Districts, Dr. Hina attended many Awareness programmes organised by KVIC for creating awareness among the people of both the areas. At Leh during the Awareness programme Dr. Hina said that Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of providing jobs to the downtrodden people at their door steps. She assured every cooperation from KVIC side. 

Further, Dr. Hina also attended EAP/Awareness programme at Kargil. Addressing the gathering Dr. Hina said Kargil needs more attention than other parts of the State. She said that Government of India has taken various initiatives for upliftment of people of Kargil and one among them is PMEGP. Through PMEGP, people of Kargil including women can start their own business and earn a healthy livelihood for them and for others also whom they will provide employment. So, I request people of Kargil to come forward and take advantages of PMEGP.  During the tour to Leh, Dr. Hina attended A valedictory function of Khadi Expo-2017 organised by Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) in collaboration with KVIC. Dr. Hina visited various stalls which displayed a variety of Khadi items. She was informed that 50 stalls were installed during the exhibition and about Rs 50 lakh sale was registered which witnessed a great footfall of the locals and foreigners.  Dr. Hina praised the concerned agencies for organizing such an event at Leh and desired that such events be organized in all the regions of the State to boost the sales and help the entrepreneurs/artisans to interact with the buyers directly.  She said such occasion also help in getting feedback from the buyers with regard to designing, product quality, etc to make the products more saleable and consumer attractive. On the occasion, Hina Bhat impressed upon the DICs of KVIC and KVIB to work in synergy so that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are benefited by the schemes of the Government.
