The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Tuesday staged a protest in Maisuma here to condemn the National Investigating Agency (NIA) raids, detentions and killings in Kashmir. The protesters denounced the detentions of resistance leaders by NIA and arrests across Kashmir.Putting common people in jails and intimidations through NIA amounts to trampling of democratic and human norms," said the protesters. "A nation that has been facing military and police wrath of Indian occupation from last 70 years cannot be intimidated by jails, NIA and other acts of state sponsored aggression," they said.“Expressing solidarity with thousands of young and old, men and women who are facing Indian wrath from Tihar Jail to jails in Jammu Kashmir, JRL leaders on the occasion said that thousands of young and old including ailing women leader Asiya Andrabi and her associate Fahmida Sofi are facing Indian oppression in different jails and incarceration centers,” a statement issued to CNS said.Leaders said that many resistance activists including Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid ul Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah , Meraj ud din Kalwal, Pir Saif ullah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar, businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali and journalists Kamran Yousuf and Javed Ahmad have been put behind bars by NIA or ED on concocted charges while as thousands including Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Moulana Sarjan Barkati, Atif Hassan, irfan Ahmad , Amir Hamza, Mir Hafizullah, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi , Abdul Gani Bhat, Muhammad Rafiq Ganie Muhammad Yousuf Baghwan and many more remain in jails under black law PSA.Leaders said that people without the discrimination of age and gender have been locked up in jails and police stations and all this is being done in the name of so-called democracy and raising the bogey of law and order. Similarly NIA has been let loose to terrorize freedom seeking people under the pretext of so-called terror funding and this agency besides arresting many people has continued its efforts to threaten people in resistance, businessmen, employees, relatives of resistance leaders and activists and men and women from other walks of life. Condemning the ongoing NIA terrorism, JRL leaders said that on one hand NIA is busy in terrorizing people through intimidations and on the other hand a malicious propaganda against Kashmiri resistance leaders, activists, businessmen and Ulema is going on unabated on various Indian TV channels and media houses. Kashmiris are on daily basis being abused, accused and demonized by so-called anchors that are acting like foot soldiers and mercenaries of Indian occupational forces and on the other hand killed, maimed, blinded and incarcerated shamelessly, added JRL leaders. While hailing the recent report of amnesty international on the plight of Kashmiris, leaders said that amnesty has rightly raised concern about the miseries of Kashmiris and we expect from them that they will raise the question of thousands of Kashmiris languishing in jails too and highlight the hardships these people are facing at the hands of so-called biggest democracy. JRL leaders said that putting common people in jails, intimidating them through NIA type aggression and other oppressive measures only amount to trampling of every democratic and human norm. They said all this oppression is being done to suppress the voices of Kashmiris seek freedom from illegal military occupation of India. Leaders said that a nation that has been facing military and police wrath of Indian occupation from last 70 years cannot be intimidated by jails, NIA and other acts of state sponsored aggression as tyrannical acts like these only strengthen the resolve of people seeking freedom from oppression.  (CNS)
