Brahm Mohindra, Health & Family Welfare Minister has taken a serious note of the practice of referring one patient to another hospital and ordered an in depth investigation of all such cases where the patients have been referred to another hospitals on one pretext or other.Chairing the meeting of Civil Surgeons held at the office of Director Health Services, Punjab, Mr. Brahm Mohindra instructed the Civil Surgeons to make sure that quality health services are provided to the citizen under the various State Sponsored and National Health Mission schemes so as to win the faith and trust of the people. Civil Surgeons were also directed to personally monitor the patients’ data being uploaded at the district level. He said that it is found that most of the districts send incomplete and defective data to the head quarter, regarding health facilities provided to the patients. The Minister said that in such a situation it becomes difficult for the head quarter to review and assess the real impact of the health schemes. He directed the Civil Surgeons to personally supervise the data being forwarded to the head quarter and henceforth the concerned Civil Surgeon would be held accountable for any flaw in the data.

Health Minister also issues set of directions for the Civil Surgeons to maintain high standards of sanitation and Hygiene in and around the premises of the hospitals. They have been directed to launch weekly sanitation campaigns. Operation Theatres would be the centre stage of these sanitization campaigns. “It is mandatory for all Civil Surgeons to do photography during these sanitization weeks and report must be send to head quarter for evaluation”, Brahm Mohindra instructed the Civil Surgeons.Health Minister happily acknowledged the fact that there are good numbers of Government Hospitals in the state which are performing well in every respect in contrast to the private hospitals. He exhorts other government hospitals to lead by example of good performance.Mr. Brahm Mohindra also reviewed the flagship health schemes like Janani Shishu Surakhiya Kariyakaram (JSSK) and Rashtriya Bal Swasthiya Kariyakaram (RBSK) and instructed the Civil Surgeons to ensure that due medical care is provided to the beneficiaries under these schemes.Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting included Mrs. Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Mr. B.
