District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jehangir conducted a two-day extensive tour of Karnah sub-division for assessing the status of development works there and interacted with the public to take stock of their issues. The DDC visited Gabra, Hajitra, Satpura, Teetwal, Chiterkote, Gundishart areas. He had a public interaction today at Tangdar to obtain feedback from general public about the functioning of different Departments and problems being faced by them.SDM Karnah, ACD Kupwara, Exen Spl Sub Division Karnah, AD Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, DIO Kupwara, Tehsildar Karnah, BDO Karnah and other Sub Division level officers were present.Prominent citizens, representatives of trade bodies, ex-sarpanches, numberdars, and members of civil society apprised the DDC about issues of public concern. He gave them a patient hearing and assured redressal of genuine and urgent demands in a time bound manner.Speaking on the occasion, DDC Kupwara stressed for ensuring availability of employees and instructed SDM Karnah to vigorously monitor attendance of officials in Government offices/ institutions. He also called for a robust anti-polythene drive with the cooperation of civil society in order to save the ecological fragile area from degradation.Reacting to the complaint of increasing incidence of drug addiction, DDC Kupwara directed for prompt and stringent action as per the law against the offenders. He also emphasized the role of parents, religious leaders, civil society, etc in weaning youngsters away from the menace.
While urging the engineers of R&B Spl Sub Division Karnah to expedite pace of work on all developmental schemes, the DDC Kupwara fixed the timeline of one year instead of three years for the newly sanctioned CRF roads. He emphasized that in contemporary times, technology and resources are available which can enable early completion of these works.He also directed for speedy completion of roads which are close to LOC in Teetwal block. He also called for timely completion of Dringla-Behri road during the current season under BADP. The DDC Kupwara instructed the R&B Deptt to refurbish the historical Dak Bungalow Karnah without tinkering with its original architectural features. The status of food grain was also reviewed and concerned authorities were directed to initiate dumping of food grains without further delay.Besides, he sought the cooperation of public in the transparent and speedy execution of works under newly sanctioned Model Village project Gabra/ Hajitra/ Tad. The sanctioned cost of the project is Rs. 39.14 crore. He directed Rural Development Department to complete the mapping of these villages within 3 days, for proceeding further with execution of work. SDM Karnah was asked to closely monitor the project for ensuring quality and timely completion of the works.The DDC Kupwara inspected a number of developmental works at Government Degree College Karnah, High School Neachiyan, High School Gundishart, and Agriculture Inspection Hut Dringla.
