Director Agriculture conducts field visit in Marh, Akhnoor Sub-Divisions

Director Agriculture, Jammu, H. K. Razdan today conducted an extensive field visit in Jourian, Khour, Bakore and Bhalwal areas of Marh and Akhnoor Sub-Divisions to access the impact of various technological interventions like line sowing, varietal performances and balanced application of fertilizers etc. in the current Kharif Crop Season.Director had an in depth interaction with the extension functionaries involved in the technological dissemination and implementation of various farmers welfare programmes at Zonal Agriculture Office, Jourian of Akhnoor Sub-Division. He also reviewed   various schemes under implementation during the current Kharif Season.Razdan advised the field functionaries to work with sincerity and dedication to uplift the economic condition of the farmers through the adoption of latest technology, inputs and machinery.The Director during the interaction said that the field staff, JAEOs and VAEAs play an important role in the implementation of various centrally sponsored programmes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFSBY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), Kisan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), Soil Health Card Scheme (SHCS) and many other farmers welfare schemes.

He also took a meeting of the JAEOs, VAEAs and other field functionaries at Zonal Office Bhalwal to assess the progress of National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) Project, Offtake of inputs current Kharif Season and vegetable seeds. He asked the field staff to create awareness for judicious use of water, tapping of perennial sources of irrigation water, introduction of climate resilient crop varieties and promotion of turmeric and ginger under the NAFCC Project.Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, R. L. Bhagat on the occasion apprised that a strong village-wise digitized database of farmers and their crops is being prepared which will be helpful in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of various incentives to the farmers. He said that farmers have been largely motivated to adopt the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme, Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS) and Crop Insurance Scheme.The Director along with team of officers also inspected the Seed Multiplication Farm Bakore where improved variety of Paddy, Pusa-44 has been raised on an area of 21 acres. The Director was satisfied with the general crop conditions which is having good tillering and crop growth.The officers who accompanied Director Agriculture during the tour included Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, R. L. Bhagat, District Agriculture Officer (Inputs), Jammu S. Matinder Singh, SDAO Marh, T. K. Atri, Agriculture Information Officer, J. C. Raina, AEO Bhalwal, B. K. Koul, Agriculture Assistant, SM Farm, Bakore, Subash Chib, AEO Jourian, Rajesh Langer, JAEOs and VAEAs of the respective areas.
