Protest against Muslim persecution in Burma continues in Kashmir

Police fired tear-smoke shells to disperse students in South Kashmir’s Shopian district who were protesting against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims by fanatic Buddhists  in Burma.Reports said that a large number of students from Government Higher Secondary School Shopian hit to roads and condemned the killings and persecution of Rohingya Muslims.The protesting students carrying placards and banners seeking end to genocide in Burma, took out a protest march upto the Government Degree College and soon after they returned they were intercepted by police near Gagren.The protesting students raising slogans pelted stones on a police vehicle while the cops fired many tear smoke shells to disperse them.A Police official said that the protesting students were chased away and normalcy was restored in the area.Protest against the killings and persecution of Rohingyas Muslims in Burma were also held by students in Srinagar and South Kashmir’s Islamabad district. Students from Government College for Women carried out a peaceful rally that culminated at Clock Tower Srinagar. The students displayed placards seeking immediate halt to the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.  (CNS)
