Dr. Nirmal Singh hails teachers’ role in nation building

Lays foundation stone for road construction

Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today hailed the role of teachers in laying the foundation of a strong nation.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organised to recognize and felicitate the outstanding and dedicated teachers at Phinter, Billawar by Dogra Foundation, New Delhi on the eve of Teachers Day.Several teachers from Billawar and surrounding areas were felicitated by Deputy CM who appreciated the role of teachers in shaping the future of students in a right direction thus laying foundation for a strong nation. “Teachers help in guiding and moulding the students to become responsible and successful citizens of the country,” he added. He said that for a teacher, everyday is a learning day and the process of learning is never ending so they must continue update themselves in all spheres. While addressing a huge gathering, Deputy CM said that the nation is going through a very important phase of transition to become a world leader, as such, the role of teacher becomes crucial to guide the students towards achieving this goal. 

Deputy CM, while highlighting the initiatives of present dispensation, said that the government is actively considering the issue of according district status to Billawar besides a proposal for SDPO Billawar has also been submitted to the concerned authorities. He also spelled out several key projects for Billawar viz. University Campus for which land has been identified, Transformer repair workshop worth Rs. 1.70 crore, auditorium at Ramkot school, PHE schemes under NABARD for uncovered hamlets, RS. 4 crore project for revamping of PDD infra besides alignment of Delhi – Katra Expressway through Billawar will prove to be a game changer in making Billawar a model and developed constituency with all the modern facilities. He also announced Rs 10 lakh from his CDF for the Drama Club of Phinter to create durable assets. He added that to further enhance the connectivity scenario of Billawar, 21 roads are being constructed under PMGSY besides 1500-2000 kanal of land near Bheeni river has been referred to industries department to facilitate industrial activities in the area.

Stressing on the potential of religious tourism in Billawar, Deputy CM said that Sukrala Mata Temple, Garhi and historical Shiv Mandir can be developed as religious tourist circuit and informed that widening of Sukrala Mata road will soon commence. Later, Dr Singh laid foundation stone for construction of 2.5 km road from Lower Bajwal to Sitla Mata Ji via Middle School Rampur to be executed by PWD(R&B) Department with an estimated cost of Rs 2.50 crore.Later, a public grievances redressal camp was also held at lower Bajwal where Nirmal Singh took stock of problems being faced by the people and assured them of resolving their issues on priority.Tehsildar Billawar, SDPO Basohli, Engineers of PHE, PWD and PDD, Sub divisional level officers, social activist Mamta Singh, teachers, students and members of civil society were present on the occasion.
