HCBAJ delegation calls on Dr. Nirmal Singh, projects demands

A delegation of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu (HCBAJ), headed by its President and Sr. Advocate, B S Slathia today called on Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh and held threadbare discussion on various problems being faced by the lawyers fraternity.Other members of delegation were Sachin Gupta, Vice President, Prem Sadhotra, General Secretary, Himanshu Sharma, Joint Secretary & Chetan Misri, cashier.Projecting the demands of the HCBAJ, the  president  informed  Deputy  Chief Minister that the strength of the Lawyers practicing in Jammu has considerably increased in the last one decade and there is minimum infrastructural to cater to the requirement of members of legal fraternity.   Slathia projected that the J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu, requires an office complex and an Auditorium urgently as the existing office is housed in one room having no sufficient space to carry on the official activities.

Slathia further projected that in various cities across the country, the Government has provided/allotted sufficient land for construction of residential accommodation for the  Lawyers,  but the same is lacking in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. He also informed that the Lawyers practicing in Jammu High Court come from all parts of Jammu province and they mainly reside in rental accommodations.He also mentioned about the ambitious scheme launched by the Prime Minister, Narinder Modi, envisaging provisions of housing for all when the nation completes 75 years of its Independence. He vehemently urged to allot land for developing  housing colony  for the Lawyers.The Deputy Chief Minister  gave a patient hearing and assured that the demands  projected by the delegation shall  be redressed . He also consented to visit the Court complex in order to initiate the requisite steps for redressal of the grievances of the legal fraternity at the earliest.
