DC Shopian inaugurates cricket tournament

Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Aijaz Ahmad Mir inaugurated under-19 cricket tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Rural Development Department Shopian at Sports Stadium here today.ACD, DPO, Sports Officer and other concerned were present on the occasion.As many as 11 teams from the district are participating in the tournament. The inaugural match was played today between HSS Turkwangam and HSS Keegam.Speaking on the ocassion, the DC said that the main aim of organizing this tournament is to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit in the youth of the district.He further said that Shopian is very fertile place both in education and Sports. He advised the youth to take part in the sports activities so that they can prove their mettle in State and national level sports.
