The National De-worming Day was observed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in coordination with District Administration, here today.CMO Ramban, Dr Safi-u- Din Khan, CEO, Dr Chander Shaker, Dy. CEO Bal Ji Thaploo, Principal GHHS Ramban, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr D V Singh, Dy. CMO Dr. Iqbal Bhat, Nodal officer National Deworming Day, Dr Majid Bhat and various officer and officials of different departments attended the function.District Development Commissioner, Tariq Hussain Ganai inaugurated the deworming drive at Government Higher Secondary School Ramban by distributing the medicine among the students.Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that its main objective is to deworm children between the ages of (1-19) at schools and Anganwadi centres. India has the highest burden of parasitic worms in the world. Parasitic worms in children interfere with nutrient uptake, and can contribute to anemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development.

CMO disclosed that more than 2000 officials of health department has been engaged besides Anganwadi workers, District Information Centre Ramban, school teachers and PHE workers across the district Ramban rendered their services for making this drive successful.He informed that all engaged had been imparted necessary training for conducting deworming drive in the district by the experts of the health department. “The department is working to achieve the target to cover 941 school in which more than 1,53,510 children in the age group of 1-19 are to be given medicine, it was informed.The drive is carried out in all medical blocks of the district in which respective Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDM) inaugurated the drive.Similar programmes were also organized by Bharatiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) High School Ramban, District Hospital Ramban and various institutions.
