Tral encounter: 16 year old boy killed in pellet firing; clashes, protests in Tral, Pulwama areas

A 16-year old boy was killed in pellet firing of government forces near encounter site in Gulab Bagh village of Tral in Pulwama district today during clashes.As per reports, hundreds of people staged violent protests at Gulab Bagh after learning about the raging of gunfight. They clashed with government forces and the forces retaliated by firing teargas and pellets. Sixteen year old boy, Muhammad Younis of Saimoh Tral was critically injured after being shot with pellets in his chest.He was removed to nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS Hospital. However doctors at the SMHS declared him brought dead. The boy was later taken to Tral where thousands of people staged protests in various villages. Massive clashes also raged at Pulwama Town between youth and government forces against the Tral encounter. Police resorted to intense teargas shelling on protesters.The situation in Tral and Pulwama areas was tense when reports last came. Meanwhile all educational institutes shall remain closed in Pulwama district tomorrow, according to district administration. The clashes also raged at Pampore area of the district where forces resorted to aerial firing. In Qaimoh area of Kulgam district, forces fired in air after locals clashed with them during a raid on a hospital. (GNS)
