Gurmit Singh Bedi joins as Deputy Director at the Chandigarh based Himachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations office

Gurmit Bedi today joined as Deputy Director at the Chandigarh office of the Himachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations. He was earlier, District Public Relations Officer at Una and had been promoted to the post of Deputy Director by the HP government last week.A journalist turned PRO, Bedi joined the department in 1989 as Assistant Public Relations Officer and was promoted as District Public Relations Officer in the year 2000. He has served in Kangra, Shimla, Sirmour, Hamirpur and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh and was  also deputed by the state government as PRO of a German project.A prolific writer, Bedi has made a niche for himself in the Hindi literary circles of the country. He is the recipient of the Himachal Sahitya Academy Award besides being bestowed by many literary awards by various organisations and state governments in the country. He has read poetries at the World Poetry festivals organized in Germany and Mauritious.Nine books and two novels written by Bedi have been published. Two of his poetry collections titled  ‘meri hi koi akriti’ and ‘mausam ka takaaza’, two story collections titled ‘kuhaase mein ek chehra’ and ‘sookhe patton ka raag’, three collection of satires titled ‘naak ka sawaal’, isliye hum hanste hain’ and ‘khabardaar jo vyang likha’ are some of his books that have been widely read and appreciated. ‘Virsa’, a Canada based  literary organization honoued Bedi for his book ‘Naak ka sawal’.  Bedi said he was privileged to be appointed as Himachal Pradesh PRO in City Beautiful.
