Two cops among 10 arrested with heroin, cannabis in Rajouri

Police in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested ten persons and recovered cannabis, poppy straw and heroin from their possession, an official said today.Those arrested included two policemen as well, he said.Giving details, the official said that three vehicles were intercepted at a check-post on Mughal road in Thanamandi area of the district.“During the search, 36 gm Heroin, 30 gm Cannabis, 4.5 Kg Poppy Straw were recovered,” he said.Those arrested were identified as Saddam Hussain S/o Adalat Khan R/o Manyal, Thanamandi; Tokir Razak @ Ashu S/o Md. Razak, R/o Kote, Behrote, Thanamandi; Md. Zahir S/o Md. Rashid, R/o Kote, Behrote, Thanamandi; Tariq Mehmood S/o Md. Azad R/o Badakana, Thanamandi: Azhar Mehmood @ Chitu S/o Zahir Khan R/o Khablain, Thanamandi; Md. Waqas S/o Abdul Hamid R/o Kote Dhara, Rajouri; Sourav Kumar @ Sunil S/o Manoj Kumar; Raj Kumar @ Raju S/o Tirth Ram, both R/o Ward No. 5, Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri.The policemen arrested were identified as Sgct Imtiaz Ahmed S/o Md. Sadiq R/o Gurdan Pain, Rajouri (No.566/R, DPL Rajouri) and Ct. Shahwaz Mirza S/o Late Md. Shamsher R/o Bhattian, Thanamandi, (No.1210/R DPL Rajouri).Three vehicles were seized and different cases under FIRs 78, 79, 80, 81 & 82 of 2017 under section 8/15/20/22/60 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered at Police Station Thanamandi, said the official.
